This article describes to use the Archive Matters utility with Unity Practice Management Accounts
General Information
- This utility allows you to archive and unarchive matters.
- It checks for incomplete undertakings and outstanding bank reconciliation items before archiving. These checks can be disabled to speed up the archiving process
How To Access This Utility
- Open the Accounts program.
- Click the Utilities icon
- Double click the Archive Matters option.
How To Archive A Matter
- Select a matter code, either enter a matter code manually then press Tab or search for a matter code by clicking the ellipsis.
- The details of the selected matter will be displayed.

- The "Messages" field will provide a reason if the matter should not be archived, for example if a client balance exists.
- In the Additional Archive Information section, you can (i) alter the close date (ii) alter the destroy date (iii) enter an archive number (iv) enter a location (v) enter a box number.
- The destroy date defaults to 7 years after the close date.

- Click Archive
How To Unarchive A Matter
- Select a matter code. Either enter a matter code manually then press TAB or search for a matter code by clicking the ellipsis
- A message will appear asking you to confirm your selection.
