This article describes how to post Credit notes within Insight
The OA - Office Credit Note can be used when applying a credit to the ledger regarding Costs and VAT only.
**This posting should not be used to credit a disbursement**
- Select 'Accounts' and 'Client'

In Matter Lookup search for and select the matter you want to post into
- Select the Client and the Matter
- Once the Matter is open, go to the Posting Tab
- Select ‘OA Office Credit Note’ from the drop down list
- Enter date
- Enter your reference
- Enter your description
- Select the VAT rate from the drop down list
- Enter the amount of the Costs to be credited
- Enter the VAT amount to be credited manually
- The credit note will need to be ticked as paid to reverse the output VAT on the vat return
**If a credit note has the Credit Note Paid unticked, it will not be reversed on the VAT return**
- Select the Fee Earner from the dropdown list
- Click on ‘Add Allocation’
- Enter the amount of costs that need to be credited to that Fee Earner
- Click Post
