This article describes Drainage and Water Asset plans available through Unity® Search
A Drainage and Water asset plan (often called an asset location plan or drain map) is an official technical drawing or map showing the exact location, size, and layout of underground public or private water pipes, sewers, manholes, and drainage networks.
An Asset Plan includes:
- Public and private assets: Locations of foul, surface, and combined water pipes.
- Access points: Positions of manholes, inspection chambers, rodding eyes, and gullies.
- Technical data: Pipe diameters, materials, directional flow, and invert levels (depth markers).
- Connections: Property exit points and final discharge destinations or nearby watercourses.
Why It Is used
- Property development: Used during property extensions or construction projects to prevent costly damage to existing underground infrastructure.
- Property transactions: Essential during home-buying or commercial property searches to verify legal connections to public water and sewer mains.
- Maintenance and safety: Helps contractors safely excavate, plan emergency repairs, and prevent environmental pollution
What does it cost?
The cost varies with each supplier.
Please contact ConciergeService@dyedurham.com for all quotes.
What’s the turnaround time for searches?
This is again dependent on the supplier. They average between 2-20 working days.
Turnaround times for relevant suppliers will be advised at the time of quoting.
How are the results presented?
Drainage and water asset plan results are usually presented as a combination of color-coded digital maps, technical symbols, and supplementary legal texts.
If you obtain a standard asset plan—such as a CON29DW drainage and water search during a property purchase—the results are structured to give both immediate visual clarity and deep technical detail.
