This article explains how to raise an Office Payment E Chit using a nominal account, including entering payment details and submitting the E Chit for processing.

Open Office E Chit
- Select the Office E Chit option.
- Once the window opens, the fee earner will be displayed at the top of the screen.
Enter Payment Details
- Choose whether the transaction is a Payment or a Receipt.
- Choose how the payment is being made.
- In the Matter field, change the selection to Nominal.
- Select the appropriate option from the dropdown list on the right-hand side under Disbursement type, such as Mileage.
- Enter the amount in the Amount field.
- If VAT needs to be applied, tick the VAT checkbox.
- Enter the date.
- This can be today’s date, a past date, or a future date if required.
- In the Pay field, enter the name of the staff member receiving the payment.
Enter Payment Destination
- Under Payment destination, select either:
- International
- United Kingdom
- If United Kingdom is selected, enter:
- Sort code
- Account number
- Enter the payment reference.
- In the Narrative field, provide a clear reason for the payment.
Authorize and Submit
- If you are authorized to approve your own E-Chit, tick the Authorization box.
- Note: If the option is greyed out, you can still submit the E-Chit and it will be authorized on your behalf.
- You may also print the E-Chit if required, although this is optional since everything is saved within the system.
- If needed, leave a note for the cashier in the Notes box.
- Once all details have been reviewed, click Submit.
The cashier will be able to review all the details on their side, and the Office Payment E-Chit using a nominal account will be successfully submitted.
