This article explains how to raise a Journal E-Chit, including transferring funds between accounts and submitting the E-Chit for processing.

To Raise a Journal E-chit:
1. From your Dashboard, go to Quick links, and select New.
2. Select the Journal E-Chit option from the pop-up list
3. Once selected, a new the window will open and the fee earner will be displayed at the top
4. Under Journal, select from the dropdown options:
- Client account
- Office account
You are moving money from one account to another by debiting from the case you are currently in and crediting the account the funds need to go to.
5. Enter the amount you would like to transfer in the Amount field
6. Enter the Date. This can be today’s date, a past date, or a future date if required
7. Add the Reference
8. In the Narrative box, briefly explain why the funds are being moved between the two accounts
9. If you are able to authorize your own E-Chit, tick the Authorization box. However, if the option is greyed out, you can still submit the E-Chit and it will be authorized on your behalf.
10. You may also print a copy if required, although this is optional since everything is saved in the system
11. If needed, leave a note for the accounting team in the Notes box
12. Once all details have been reviewed, click Submit
The accounting team will be able to see all the details on their side, and the Journal E-Chit will be successfully created.
