This article explains how to raise an Office Payment E Chit in the Unity® Practice Management.

Select Office E-Chit to open the E-Chit window
At the top of the screen, the assigned fee earner will be displayed automatically
Under Payment or Receipt, select Payment
Then choose the payment method

If applicable, complete the following fields:
- Purpose code category
- Purpose code description
- The E-Chit will automatically associate with the case you are currently working on.
- Under Disbursement Type, select the appropriate option.
- Then:
- Enter the payment amount
- Tick the VAT checkbox if VAT applies
- Enter the payment date (current, past, or future dates can be used)
9. The reference field will automatically generate based on the selected payment type.
For example:
- FP = Faster Payment
- The remaining numbers reflect the payment date
10. In the Pay field, enter the payee details
11. Under Payments Estimation, select either:
- International
- United Kingdom
If United Kingdom is selected, enter:
- Sort code
- Account number
- Payment reference (such as an invoice number)
12. In the Narrative field, provide a clear reason for the payment.
13. You can also add additional notes for the cashier in the Notes field if needed
14. If you are authorized to approve your own E-Chits, tick the Authorization checkbox. However, if this option is greyed out, you can still submit the E-Chit, and it will be authorized by another user on your behalf.
14. You may also print the E-Chit if required, although this is optional since all records are saved within the system
Once complete, click Submit to send the E-Chit to the accounting team for processing
