This article describes the Bulk Import feature with Excel within Insight
Import from Excel is a feature for Accounts Batch Postings.
It allows Accounts Users to import Office Disbursement Postings in bulk using an Excel spreadsheet. Templates have been provided with the relevant columns.
Downloading Templates
Templates are available on the Batch Posting screen, which can be downloaded and stored locally. Templates are available for importing disbursements with the pay from Bank, Nominal and Purchase Ledger options.
- Go to Accounts > Batch to open Batch Posting
- Select Download Import Templates on the menu ribbon
- Click Download on the relevant template and choose a save location
Completing the Template
Once downloaded and saved the template will open automatically
The spreadsheet can be populated with the data required. Any columns which can be populated using the Default option on the batch screen do not have to be populated on the spreadsheet.
Importing the Spreadsheet
Once saved the spreadsheet can then be imported into the database using the Import Transactions icon.
- Users must select a date in the Default section on the Batch Posting screen before the Import Transactions icon will become available.
- The date must be in the past
- All Defaults not entered on the spreadsheet can also be populated.
- Select Import Transactions
- Choose the uploaded spreadsheet.
- A confirmation message will appear once it has been completed. The user will also be informed if any information is missing from the spreadsheet.
- When imported, the batch screen will populate with the individual postings and will show a batch total.
- Any row with a warning triangle will indicate that information is missing on this entry and will need to be amended manually.
- Users can select rows and amend individual entries before posting as a batch.

Only one file can be selected for import, but multiple imports can be uploaded in one session.Postings can be added manually before and after importing a spreadsheet.
