This article describes how to Redact Matters from Cases within Insight Legal.
Redacting Data
This function allows the ability to remove Matters, contacts and document registers, Clients can only be removed as long as they are not attached.
Note that redacting data is entirely permanent. Once data has been redacted there is no way for it to be recovered |
Permissions
- In order to be able to Redact Data the right permissions must be set
- To check this go to System > Staff & Fee Earners and select the relevant user
- Ensure the permissions highlighted below to be able to redact data
Redacting Matters
- The matter to be redacted must have a destroy date
- Also ensure there is a date in the Destroy File box dated before the date you are redacting it (todays date)
- Then go to System > Redact data
- Select the Matter tab and click Load to see all matters that are able to be redacted
- This will then bring up any matters that are eligible to be redacted
- Select your chosen matter and select Redact Selected
- The pop up below will appear
- Enter the amount of matters to be redacted ( in this case 1) and hit Redact.
| This then completes the redaction process. Once redacted the details will be removed from the database and cannot be recovered. |
Redacting Clients
Ensure that the client is not linked to any matters or document registers before trying to redact. |
- Ensure you have the permissions highlighted below to be able to redact data
- To check this go to System > Staff & Fee Earners and select the user
- Go to System > Redact Data
- Select the Client tab
- Select the clients to be redacted and click Redact Selected
- The pop up below will appear
- Enter the amount of clients to be redacted ( in this case 1) and click Redact
This then completes the redaction process. Once redacted, the details will be removed from the database and cannot be recovered. |
