This article describes the WIP corrector utility and how to use it within the Accounts section of Unity Practice Management
General Information
- This utility allows you to write off work in progress.
- The calculated write off is an automated procedure. The utility calculates the total amount to write off for both profit costs and time.
- The manual write off allows you to manually specify the amount to write off for either profit costs or time.
How To Access WIP
- Open the Accounts program.
- Click the utilities icon:
- Double click the WIP Corrector option.
How To Bill Outstanding WIP
- Search for your matter using the Search dropdown and entering your criteria, then click Find .

- If more than one matter appears in the upper part of the window, click to highlight the one you require.

- Select the bill from the list in the centre of the window.
- If you wish to bill all of the time, click Bill All
- To undo the billing click Bill None
- To bill individual time entries, tick the box under Bill Now against the time in the lower part of the window.
- When you have billed what you need to click Save and Close.
- To cancel any changes you have made, click Cancel and Close.
How To Write Off Outstanding WIP
- Search for your matter using the Search dropdown and entering your criteria, then click Find.

- If more than one matter appears in the upper part of the window, click to highlight the one you require.

- Click Write off WIP to write off all outstanding WIP. It will tick the W/O Now box against all the WIP entries in the lower part of the window.
- To undo the write off, click Write off None and it will remove the ticks.
- You can also click Write Off at the bottom to pick up and write off all outstanding WIP.
- To write off individual time entries, tick the box under W/O Now against the time in the lower part of the window.
- When you have written off what you need to click Save and Close .
- To cancel any changes you have made, click Cancel and Close .
