This article details how to maintain Private & Legal Aid Rates in Unity® Practice Management.

The Maintenance option allows you to do the following actions:

• Add new time recording rates
• Edit existing Time Records
• Copy rates from one fee earner or Legal Aid Code to another to save time
• Print time recording rates

How to Access this Option

1. Open the Accounts program
2. Click the Maintenance icon
3. Double-click the Private & L/A Rates option

How to Add, Edit, or Delete Legal Aid Rates

1. Click the Legal Aid Rates tab
2. Select a Branch
3. Select a Rate Scheme

4. Select a Legal Aid Code

5. You now have 3 options:
   • To add a Legal Aid Rate: 
     • Click on the + icon
     • Select a Code
     • Select an Attendance code
     • Enter a Rate

• To delete a Legal Aid Rate: 
  • Select a record
  • Click Rates on the top toolbar
  • Select the Delete Rates option

• To edit a Legal Aid Rate, locate the required record and re-enter the new information

6.  Click Apply to save any changes.

How to Add, Edit or Delete Private Rates

1. Click the Private Rates tab
2. Select a Branch
3. Select a Rate Scheme

4. Select a Fee Earner

5. You now have 3 options:
   • To add a Private Rate: 
     • Click on the + icon
     • Select a Code
     • Select an Attendance code
     • Enter a Rate

• To delete a Private Rate: 
  • Select a record
  • Click Rates on the top toolbar
  • Select the Delete Rates option

• To edit a Private Rate,  locate the required record and re-enter the new information

6.  Click Apply to save any changes

How to Copy Rates From One Fee Earner or Legal Aid Code to Another

This option saves you from re-entering the same information. To copy the Rates, follow the steps below:

1. Select the Fee Earner/Legal Aid Code with the list of Rates you wish to copy

2. Click Rates on the top toolbar and Select the Copy Rates option

3. Select a new Fee Earner/Legal Aid Code
4. Click Rates on the top toolbar and select the Paste Rates option

How to Print the Rates

1. Select a Private or Legal Aid Rates you wish to print
2. Click File on the top toolbar

3. Select to print either Private or Legal Aid Rates and a new window will pop-up

4. Click the Print icon on the top-left corner of your screen
