A transfer is used for the following:
- Client Account to Client Account for a Specific Matter (i.e., Transfer from a Conveyance Sale File to the Conveyance Purchase File)
- Client Account to Office Account for a Specific Matter (i.e., to pay Disbursements on a matter that has not been included in a bill and is not going to be billed. Please note that this would leave the disbursement with a status of Unbilled.
- Client Account to Nominal Ledger (i.e., Small client balance left to be paid out to a charity, can be transferred to a nominal to be paid from their account)
- Office Account to Client Account for a Specific Matter (i.e.. To transfer funds from the office to the client so the office is not in credit, this can happen if an overpayment has been received, or a cheque has been returned, or too much money was transferred originally from the client to the office.
- Office Account to Office Account for a Specific Matter.
- Office Account to Nominal Ledger.

C5 – Client Transfer (Client Account to Client Account)
This type of posting is used for moving money from one client matter to another client matter. Select posting type C5, and in the destination, select 'Matter.' The matter will auto-populate with the matter you are currently on. Clear this and enter the matter to which you wish the funds to be transferred.
The above transfer is moving money on the case CON44 and transferring this to CON45. It shows at the bottom the New Client Balance on the current ledger card (303,911.36) and the New Destination Client Balance (1,820.00). This will not affect your client bank balance as it is an internal transfer from C1 to C1.
C5 – Client Transfer (Client Account to Office Account)
This type of posting is used for moving money from the client ledger to the office ledger if your disbursements or bills have been brought across as an opening balance on the office ledger due to a conversion from another software.

The above transfer is money on the case CON45 transferring to CON45 office account. Note the C1 Bank is where the money is transferring out of and O1 is where the money is transferring to. This will affect the bank accounts as it is moving between client account and office account, so a physical transfer will need to be done between the banks.
C5 – Client Transfer (Client Account to Nominal Ledger)
This type of posting is used for moving money from the client account to the office account, nominal ledger.
The above transfer is moving money from the case CON11 to Nominal Ledger 1001 (Charity). It shows at the bottom the New Client Balance on the current ledger card (0.00) and the New Destination Nominal Balance (3.00). Note the C1 Bank is where the money is transferring out of and O1 is where the money is transferring to. This will affect your bank balances so a physical transfer between banks is required.
O5 – Office Transfer (Office Account to Office Account)
This type of posting is used for moving an office balance on one matter to another matter, can be used for moving a disbursement that has been posted to the incorrect matter.
The above transfer is money on the case CON45 transferring to CON44. It shows at the bottom the New Office Balance on the current ledger card (0.00) and the New Destination Office Balance (190.50). This will not affect your office bank balance as it is an internal transfer from O1 to O1.
O5 – Office Transfer (Office Account to Client Account)
This type of posting is used for transferring money back to the client account from the office account, this can be used when a bill has been overpaid to prevent the office account from being in credit.
The above transfer is moving money on the case CON42 from office to client account. Note the O1 Bank is where the money is be transferring out of and C1 is where the money is transferring to. This will affect the bank accounts as it is moving between office account and client account, so a physical transfer between the banks is required.
O5 – Office Transfer (Office Account to Nominal Ledger)
This type of posting can be used for moving an office balance to a nominal ledger.
The above transfer is moving part of the office balance on CON42 to the nominal ledger Write off Disbursements. It shows at the bottom the New Office Balance (4,233.60) and the New Destination Nominal Balance (-1,377.00). The above transfer will not affect your bank balance as it’s an internal transfer from O1 to O1.
