This article explains how to Rule Off a month-end and a VAT quarter-end in Unity® Practice Management. 

General Information

• This utility allows you to rule off:

  • a month end
  • a period end
  • a VAT end

  Period ends are not mandatory. They are designed for durations shorter than a month. This is because some cashiers like to perform weekly or even daily roll-offs due to a high volume of postings.

How to Access this Utility

1. Open the Accounts program
2. Click the Utilities icon
3. Double-click the Rule Off Month/Period/VAT option

How to Rule Off a Period End 

1. Check the Period option
2. Click Next
3. Click Finish

How to Rule Off a Month End

1. Check the Month option
2. Click Next
3. Tick the checkboxes where appropriate:
   • This requirement must be fulfilled to proceed.
4. Click Next
5. Click Next to ignore the VAT option
6. Click Finish

How to Rule Off a Month End and a VAT Quarter 

1. Click the Month option
2. Click Next
3. Tick the checkboxes where appropriate
   • This requirement must be fulfilled to proceed
4. Click Next
5. Tick the checkbox
6. Select a VAT Control Nominal
7. Select the VAT Period End Date
8. Click Next
9. Click Finish
