This article explains how to Rule Off a Month End and a VAT Quarter End in Unity® Practice Management. 

General Information

• This utility allows you to rule off:

  • a month end
  • a period end
  • a VAT end

  Please note that period ends are not mandatory. They are designed for durations shorter than a month. This is because some cashiers like to perform weekly or even daily rule-offs due to a high volume of postings.

How to Access this Utility

1. Open the Accounts program.
2. Click the Utilities icon.
3. Double-click the Rule Off Month/Period/VAT option. 

How to Rule Off a Period End 

1. Check the Period option.
2. Click Next.
3. Click Finish. 

How to Rule Off a Month End

1. Check the Month option.
2. Click Next.
3. Tick the checkboxes where appropriate:
   • This requirement must be fulfilled to proceed.
4. Click Next.
5. Click Next to ignore the VAT option.
6. Click Finish. 

How to Rule Off a Month End and a VAT Quarter 

1. Click the Month option.
2. Click Next.
3. Tick the checkboxes where appropriate.
   • This requirement must be fulfilled to proceed.
4. Click Next.
5. Tick the checkbox.
6. Select a VAT Control Nominal.
7. Select the VAT Period End Date.
8. Click Next.
9. Click Finish.
