This article describes the comprehensive bankruptcy search within Business Law
What is a Comprehensive Bankruptcy Search?
This combined search checks three trusted sources for bankruptcy information against an individual. It helps you assess a person’s creditworthiness and understand whether they have faced difficulties repaying debts in the past.
What sources are used?
Our report pulls together results from three places:
- Court Records
We search the online Court Records at the Insolvency and Companies List (Royal Courts of Justice and Rolls Building) to identify any pending bankruptcy petitions lodged against an individual within the last five years. - Individual Insolvency Service (England & Wales)
This check identifies any current bankruptcy orders, debt relief orders, or Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs). Depending on the type of insolvency, the information may remain visible for up to three months after discharge or completion. - Land Registry
We also check for any pending bankruptcy orders recorded against the individual.
Why is it useful?
- Confirm whether an individual has any current, pending, or past bankruptcies.
- Quickly assess someone’s financial stability or creditworthiness.
- Avoid the hassle of carrying out separate checks — we combine the results into a single PDF.
With Dye & Durham, there’s no need to spend time contacting the Companies Court directly, where calls are charged at premium rates and only provide limited answers. Instead, simply order online and receive a written report within 30 minutes.
