This article describes the Insolvency Plus report, an enhanced winding up search within Business Law
What is an Insolvency Plus report?
An Insolvency Plus report combines three checks into one:
- A winding up search at Athe courts
- A Companies House search for insolvency, liquidation, or strike-off action
- A Gazette search for insolvency notices
This gives you a full picture of a company’s financial standing in a single, convenient report.
What sources are used?
- Court Records: We check the Insolvency and Companies List at the Royal Courts of Justice and Rolls Building. If a winding up petition is found, we contact the court to confirm whether it has been dismissed, withdrawn, or if a hearing date is pending.
- Companies House: We review the company’s status. If it is anything other than active (e.g. compulsory strike-off, liquidation, voluntary arrangement), we provide supporting documents. All filings are downloaded and merged into one PDF for your convenience.
- Gazette: We search the London, Edinburgh, or Belfast Gazette for published insolvency notices.
Why is it useful?
- Provides reassurance before completion that the company has not become insolvent or bankrupt and that no petitions are active.
- Saves you time by combining checks from three different sources into one report.
- Avoids the hassle of contacting the Companies Court directly, where calls are charged at premium rates and results are often just a verbal confirmation.
