This article explains the SDLT Application Form process in Unity® Searches. 

Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) is a tax paid by the buyer when purchasing a property or land in England  

When is SDLT Payable?

SDLT is payable when a property or land is purchased in England, including: 

• Residential properties
• Commercial properties
• Land transactions 

Who pays SDLT

The property buyer is responsible for paying SDLT, although in some cases, the seller may agree to pay it as part of the sale agreement. 

SDLT Application Form Process. 

The SDLT Application Form process consists of several sections or steps, followed by a Form Review, where you will review and update the entered information as needed before proceeding to the declaration step.  

SDLT 1 - Property Details 

In this section, you need to enter property details, which are divided into four tabs: 

• Transaction Details
• Parties
• Lease
• Tax Calculation

SDLT 2 -  Additional Parties Details 

Any additional details, such as extra Vendors or Purchases, will be displayed in this section.

SDLT 3 - Additional Land Details

If there are any additional land details, they will appear in this section. 

SDLT 4 -  Additional Transaction Details 

In this section, you have two tabs to fill in with relevant information: 

• About the Transaction
• Lease Details
  • If there is an additional Lease, it will appear in this tab.

In each section, there are 3 buttons:

• Exit
• Save Draft
• Continue 

When you click on Exit, you will leave the application form. If you click on Save Draft, your progress will be saved as a draft, which you can download later. Clicking on Continue will take you to the next section of the form.

Form Review

In the Form Review section, you will see all the information you provided earlier. You will also find out if the application has been successfully validated. If it hasn't, the specific errors will be displayed in each section.

To make corrections, click Edit, and you will be taken back to the section where you need to fix the errors. Once you have completed the changes, click Continue to proceed. 

To download the Application Form, click Download Application Form, and the SDLT Form will be saved to your computer.

Scroll down and click Continue To Declaration to proceed to the declaration step.

Declaration 

1. Click Edit, to enter HMRC credentials.
2. Enter HMRC Username, Password and STORN ID.
3. Click the toggle to save credentials for future submissions. 

4. Click Done. 

   

5. Tick the Declaration check box. 

6. Click Place Order.
