Question : I am trying to record time and get the message "The date must fall within an unlocked Period". How do I fix it?

Answer : You are trying to time record in a locked period, you must:

- Unlock a period, go to System > Settings > Periods and Years
- Click on the period you are wanting to post time into
- Untick time locked and hit Save in the top left corner
- This will release the period and allow you to post time into it

You may need to add a new year if you are at Year End.

Question : " How do I Fix the Menu Ribbon/Taskbar
Answer : There are several things you can do with the Menu Ribbon
Minimising the Menu Ribbon:
- Double Click any of the top menu tabs OR
- Click on the arrow at the right side of the ribbon
- When the Menu Ribbon has been minimised only the top tabs will show
Expanding the Menu Ribbon:
- To expand the Menu Ribbon temporarily use a single click on any of the tabs

To expand the Ribbon permanently:
- Double click on any of the menu tabs OR
- Click on the pin at the right side of the ribbon when the menu is temporarily expanded
Question : Why doesn't my Trial Balance match my Matter Balances report?
Answer: There are two common reasons for this:
- Check to see if ticking closed matters on the matter balances report status resolves the issue - There may be some balances on closed files
- A file may have been opened after its first posting date - Our Support Team can run a report that will find this
Question : How do I increase/decrease my firms number of licences?
Answer : This can be done by contacting our Support Team at support-cms-uk@dyedurham.com

Question : Why is my Outlook Add-In Not working?
Answer : There are a few common reasons for this but they can differ based on your version of Outlook, the best place to check is Microsoft guides here
A couple of common solutions are:

Check Outlook for Slow and Disabled COM Add-ins

In Outlook Go to "File" then "Manage Add-Ins"

You will be able to enable the add-in from here and tell Outlook to not disable it in future.

- Select the Insight Outlook add-in
- Choose the option "Do not monitor for the next 30 days"
- Click "Apply"
- Click "Close"
Question : What happens when I run a Month End?
Answer : Running month-end within Insight locks the period down for posting and time recording
- If you realise that this should not have been done yet, you can unlock the period again if it is needed. For more information on this see Adding a New Financial Year & Unlocking a Period
- If you would like to run any reports, this can be done via the Report tab in Insight.
Question : Why can't I find a matter but my colleague can?
Answer : There are a couple of possible reasons for this:
1 : Restricted Matter
- The matter has most likely been restricted, this means that only the Fee Earner Responsible can see the matter
- The Fee Earner responsible will need to go to Cases > Matter Maintenance and untick the restricted box in the matter details box on the top left-hand side
2 : Incorrect Filters
- Check your Matter look up filters - Matter Look-up > Cog Icon > Matter Tab.
- If you have selected 'My Files Only', 'Exclude Closed' or 'Filtered' by 'Department' they may be filtered
- Clear your filters by pressing the clear filter icon as shown by the red arrow
Question : Why is it saying "The date does not fall within an open period" when I am trying to do a posting?
Answer : You may need to add a new year if you are at your Year End. In the bottom right untick posting locked and hit Save in the top left corner. This will release the period and allow you to post into it

- In the bottom right untick posting locked and hit save in the top left corner

Question : How do I change my regional settings
Answer :Insight will apply the regional settings that are set on your PC or laptop, so if you are seeing a Dollar($) or Euro(€) symbol instead of Sterling (£) then you will need to change these. Instructions to do that are here
Question : I have created the wrong reference for a Matter, can I change this?
Answer :
- Once you have created a Matter and saved it, you are unable to change its reference
- If you need to change it we would recommend you go into Cases > Matter Maintenance and rename the matter "DO NOT USE" and then create the matter again with the correct reference

- Rename the matter "DO NOT USE"
- Create a new matter in Cases> Matter Maintenance in the family department
- The next time you want to add a matter in the conveyancing department, rename the "DO NOT USE" matter with your new matter details
- This conveyancing matter will have the reference "CON15"

- Alternatively, If you want to permanently delete the information from your system you can redact the data under "System" and "Redact Data"
