This article explains how to enter new Expert Logs in Unity® Practice Management.
How to Enter a New Expert Log
- Open the Coredata program.
- Search for a client.
- Once the search results are displayed, click the required client record in the upper section to select it.
- A list of matters relating to the selected client will be displayed in the section directly below. Click the required matter record to select it.
- Click Expert Logs on the top toolbar to enable a dropdown menu.
Select New Expert Log, and the experts window will pop up. Select an expert in the upper window, then click OK.
You may find it necessary to enter a new expert or to edit an existing expert first. See the section entitled How To Enter/Edit An Expert for instructions.
How to Edit an Existing Expert Log
- Open the Coredata programs.
- Search for a client.
- Once the search results are displayed, click the required client record in the upper section to select it.
- A list of matters relating to the selected client will be displayed in the section directly below. Click the required matter record to select it.
- Click Expert Logs on the top toolbar to enable a dropdown menu.
Select Edit Expert Logs.
You can also click the Expert Logs link, which will be available and highlighted blue, providing an Expert Log exists for the selected matter. - A list of existing Expert Logs will display in the lower section of the window. Click the required record to select it, and that record will turn bluе.
The information for the selected record will display in the upper section of the window. Any of the fields can be edited. To edit the fields relating to the selected expert, click and the expert's window will pop up. If this is the case, you will need to reselect an expert in the upper window, then click OK.
You may find it necessary to enter a new expert or to edit an existing expert first. See the section entitled How To Enter/Edit An Expert for instructions.
How to Delete an Expert Log
- Open the Coredata program.
- Search for a client.
- Once the search results are displayed, click the required client record in the upper section to select it.
- A list of matters relating to the selected client will be displayed in the section directly below. Click the required matter record to select it.
- Click Expert Logs on the top toolbar to enable a dropdown menu.
Select Edit Expert Logs.
You can also click the expert Logs link which will be available and highlighted blue providing a Expert Log exists for the selected matter. - A list of existing expert Logs will display in the lower section of the window. Select a record to select it and that line will turn will blue. The details for the selected expert Log will appear in the fields above.
- You cannot delete an item but you can make it inactive instead. To do this untick the Active checkbox. By default inactive items are not displayed within Accounts, Coredata or on the reports unless you specifically request to view them via the options. In other words, inactive items are normally hidden from view so they are as good as deleted, but with the advantage that you can still go back to them if necessary in the future.
How To Enter/Edit An Expert
- To enter a new expert first click New on the upper toolbar to create a new blank record in the upper window. Fill in the expert details by clicking inside each of the new fields and manually entering the information. Click Save on the upper toolbar. With the newly entered expert still highlighted in the upper window, click New on the lower toolbar to create a new blank record in the lower window. Select an area of expertise from the menu. Click Save on the lower toolbar. (You can now repeat this process in the lower window if the expert has more than one area of expertise)
- To edit the details of an existing expert select the required record in the upper window and that line will turn bluer Once you have selected the expert you may edit either the personal details in the upper window and/or the expertise details in the lower window. Afterwards click Save on the upper and/or lower toolbars.
- To enter anew area of expertise click File on the upper toolbar to enable a dropdown menu. Click the New Expertise option. Enter the name of the new area of expertise e.g. doctor, social worker etc, Click Save.
- To edit the name of an existing area of expertise click File on the upper toolbar to enable a dropdown menu. Click the Edit Expertise option. Re-enter the name of the new area of expertise e.g. doctor, social worker etc. Click Save.
