This article provides a quick guide to enabling Brighter Law Suite (BLS), Brighter Estimates (BE), and Spidercubed now that the client account has been added based on the client's requirements.
Please follow the Client Onboarding - Core Account Details article for Account Setup.
To do this:
i. Navigate to the client’s account by clicking the dropdown in the top left-hand corner of Core.
ii. Selecting Companies
iii. Enter the company’s name in the search bar.
iv. Click Go, then select the company from the results to open its account.
v. Once in the account, select the Edit Company tab, then focus on completing the Systems, Spider, and MyFees sections based on the client’s needs. In Available Systems, make sure to tick "MyFees" - this activates Brighter Law Suite (BLS) for the client. Enable only the systems specifically requested by the client, such as Spider (Spidercubed) and MyFees (Brighter Law Suite), and do not enable PIE-X under any circumstances.
vi. Click Save to apply the system settings. If the client has requested Spidercubed, go to the Spider tab first and complete the required configuration.
The following fields are required:
Spider Notification Email – Inherited from the main company details entered on the initial setup page.
Funds Collection Type – If the client requires funds to be collected, select PIEToCollect from the dropdown.
Can Send Messages to PIE SATA? – Should be enabled to allow use of the messaging tool with the client.
Credit Account – Enable if required.
Unlimited Credit – Enable by default. A credit limit will be applied later by Finance once the client has placed a few orders.
Dual Asset Underwriting Enabled – Enable this option.
Non-Default Dual Asset Underwriting URL – Enter the following Legal Indemnity Insurance link.
All other settings can remain switched off or will be inherited from the reseller settings.
Once done, click Save to save the Spider settings. Then, proceed to the MyFees tab and complete the required configuration fields.
The following fields are required:
Quote Notification Email - This field isn’t mandatory but is useful to complete. It defines the email address that quote notifications will appear to be sent from (on behalf of) when delivered to solicitors, estate agents, or panel managers.
Optional, but recommended. This sets the email address that quote notifications appear to come from when sent to solicitors, estate agents, or panel managers.
Instruction Notification Email - This is the sender address that solicitors, estate agents, or panel managers will see when receiving instruction notifications.
Instruction notifications to solicitors, estate agents, or panel managers will appear to come from this email address.
Can Be Panelled – Enables the company to appear in the Instruct panel setup and allows its users to be added to the instruct dropdown.
Integrated Land Registry - Should be switched ON. When enabled, electronic fees are applied; if OFF, postal fees are used. This should be ON for all companies since DRS was introduced.
MyFees Company Type – Defines the company’s role in Brighter Law Suite (BLS) and governs its permissions. Options include:
Owner – Typically used for panel managers.
Introducer – For estate agents or referrers. Cannot be instructed but can create quotes. Appears in the BLS list of introducers.
OwnerAndIntroducer – For solicitors using BLS without a panel manager. Can appear in the list of introducers and create quotes. Must also have Can Be Panelled enabled to be instructed.
Conveyancer – For solicitors receiving instructions from a panel manager. Cannot create quotes and is not treated as an introducer.
Parent Branch – Usually set to the head office. Used to group related branches under a main company structure.
External Case Management Trigger - Case Management Integration: Set this to CaseInstruct to enable the transfer of quote and case details into the client’s external Case Management System (CMS), if integration is required.
Access Level Selection
Choose the appropriate user level for enabling integration:
– Use Owner for solicitor firms
– Use Introducer when enabling the feature for introducers
Trigger Options:
By default, this field is set to None. To enable integration with a CMS:
Select Manual Trigger if the process should be initiated manually. Development will need to add a button in the UI to support this.
Select CaseInstruct to automatically send case details to the CMS endpoint upon instruction.
External Case Managment Provider - Select the appropriate case management system from the dropdown, if integration is required.
Brighter Suite MI Enabled - Enables access to the Management Information tab. This must be switched on at both the company and user level to allow access.
Show Settings - Allows clients to view fee scales within BLS. To enable users to modify fees, this must also be switched on at the user level.
At the bottom of the MyFees tab, you'll also see three additional sections: Brighter Estimates Defaults, Toggle Quote Types, and Brighter Suite Billing.
Brighter Estimates Defaults - These dropdown fields are inherited from the Teams/Users setup and the company’s Instruct panel configuration. Each field helps define the default contacts used during quote generation and instruction:
Case Creating User – Sets the name that appears as the contact on Brighter Estimate quotes.
Case Default Introducer – Appears as the default introducer and is used as the contact on template examples.
Case Default Instructor – Automatically instructs this user and populates the instruct contact details.
Toggle Quote Types - These checkboxes define which transaction types the company can provide quotes for. Select the relevant options based on the services offered and the fee scales provided: Transfer of Equity, Remortgage, Commercial Services and Bespoke Services
Brighter Suite Billing - This section is used to configure billing details for BLS. You'll need to complete the following fields:
Feescale Default PIE Fee – Usually set to Inherit unless otherwise specified.
Billing Date – Typically set to the 1st of the month.
Monthly Fee – Confirm the amount with the assigned Account Manager.
After clicking Save, a confirmation message will appear in the top-right corner of the screen to let you know the details have been successfully saved.
