This article describes Account Ledger Cards for the Accounts section of Unity Practice Management
Access A Ledger Card Via Accounts
- Open the Accounts program.
- Click the Ledgers icon:
Raise A Ledger Card
- Click the Accounts/Time tab.
- Select the search method, by default, the system will search by Matter code. An alternative can be selected via the dropdown menu.
- Enter search query details. The type of information entered will vary depending upon the search method chosen in step 1. For more accurate results enter as much information as possible.
- Tick the checkbox to view archived matters only:
- Click Find and the search results will be displayed.
- Double click the required record to raise the accounts ledger card.
Display Different Types of Information on a Ledger Card
- Click View on the toolbar.
- Select to display (i) office transactions (ii) client transactions (iii) deposit transactions (iv) both client and office transactions (v) undertakings (ii) transactions totals on any related matters (v) any notes made against the ledger card (vi) diary dates.
- Notes can be added, edited or deleted at any time. Any changes will be automatically saved.
- You can also make these selections by clicking the row of tabs situated immediately above the transaction headings.
Print A Ledger Card
- Click File on the top toolbar.
- Select Print from the dropdown menu.
Display Unbilled Disbursements on a Ledger Card
- Click View on the top toolbar.
- Select Unbilled Disbursements from the dropdown menu.
You can also display unbilled disbursement by clicking the ellipsis next to the unbilled disbursements control total field.
Display Transaction Details on a Ledger Card
You can display additional details for any bill or purchase ledger transaction.

Select the transaction by clicking any of its fields

Then click either PL Details or Bill Details
Reorder Transactions on a Ledger Card
Click a transaction heading, for example you can select Date, Ref or Narrative to reorder the transactions according to the results in that particular column.
An arrow will appear to show which heading is currently selected:
- By default the system will order transactions by ID number.
- Click a heading twice to display the transactions in reverse order.
Post Directly From a Ledger Card
- Click Posting on the top toolbar.
- Select a chit type from the dropdown menu.
Switch to a Time Ledger Card
- Click View on the top toolbar.
- Select Time Ledger from the dropdown menu.
